Mountlake Terrace, Washington, is a city in Snohomish County. It started off as a disused airfield before it was founded by suburban developers in 1949. Five years later, it was incorporated as an official city. Mountlake Terrace is home to over 21,000 citizens. Its name derived from the fact that Mount Rainier and Lake Washington can be seen from some of the properties the developers built, and the old runway resembled a terrace.
Mountlake Terrace is a fun community for everyone, especially families. This town has many entertaining events such as the Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show, a September event where local artists compete for cash prizes. The Costume Carnival takes place around Halloween and features dance performances, cake walks, and more. If you like jogging or cycling, then you’ll love Lakeview Trail. The multipurpose trail is one-mile long stretching from Interurban Trail to Mountlake Terrace Trail Center. The Mountlake Terrace Recreation Pavilion is the place to go for learning something new or just for fun. Some of its amenities include a pool, a lazy river, dance studios, a fitness room, and other features. The pavilion is a few blocks away from the local dog park. Veterans Memorial Park is a small, fun park with a play area, a gazebo, and a wooded area. It’s a few steps from the public library, so you can check out a book after relaxing in the park. Public schools in Mountlake Terrace are run by the Edmonds School District. This community also has a few private schools.
