Kirkland, Washington, is a community located in King County. It was found in 1888 and established in 1905. Kirkland is home to approximately 89,000 people, which makes it Washington’s 12th-largest city.

Kirkland is a Seattle suburb that’s about 11 miles from the larger city. The locals love living here because it blends outdoor recreation, shopping, and art very well. Speaking of art, you’ll find many public art sculptures around town. Some of the sculptures include the Centennial Fountain, a carousel, kids playing leapfrog, and more. This community is also known for its waterfront parks with a well-known one being Juanita Beach Park. Besides a beach, it has a fishing area, a children’s playground, ball fields, a public dock, and other amenities. Unlike many communities that have one farmers’ market per week, this town has two farmers’ markets every week: one on Wednesdays and another on Fridays. These farmers’ markets operate from June to September. Downtown Kirkland is a must-visit during the weekend, day off, or any time you feel like stopping by. It has several shops you can browse that sell things like dog treats, flowers, and clothing. The downtown area also has a few art venues like the Kirkland Arts Center and the Kirkland Performance Center. Schools in Kirkland include nine public secondary schools, 12 public elementary schools, a few private schools, a technical college, and a university.
